Highest Wind named "Company of the Year"

Quite unexpectedly, we were named "Company of the Year" at the Speed Venture Summit last night.

As one of forty seven companies seeking investment from twenty three investment groups, we'd just spent the previous three hours "pitching" our companies for just twelve minutes each with as many as six different investor groups. The investors then voted for their top five favorite companies. Halfway through a glass of red wine at the reception afterwards, I was somewhat relieved to not hear our name announced as one of the five. But when one of the five didn't approach the podium, Highest Wind was announced as the sixth favorite company. All five of us then had one minute to tell our story to the three hundred plus people in the audience, after which they cheered for their favorites. Happily, they cheered loudest for Highest Wind.

Highest Wind engineering partners made public.

We've used an article in the Union Leader to make public our relationship with two local partners now providing engineering and eventually manufacturing services for Highest Wind. The article is mostly accurate, though I haven't yet been able to clearly explain to the reporter the difference between kiloWatts and kiloWatt Hours. (Update: the reporter says he had it correct but his editor changed it. Yet another liberal-arts major with a poor understanding of science.) The real numbers are; 30 kiloWatts of continuous power production which will lead to an annual average energy production of more than 130,000 kiloWatt hours. Stating a daily number of kiloWatt hours will never be accurate. Some days are windier than others. Best case, the wind is blowing hard all twenty four hours: 30 kiloWatts of power produced for 24 hours = 720 kiloWatt hours of energy produced.
